Choirs and conductors are increasingly engaging with communities in pursuit of justice and social change. Some of these organizations regularly practice a kind of engagement where a primary goal is mutually beneficial partnerships. Building on these aspirations, André de Quadros will present strategies, practices, and repertoire that choirs, conductors, and administrators can use to harness the power of these partnerships to address critical societal issues and contribute to the public good. His experience in more than 40 countries, with professional and community choirs, in some of the most challenging environments, from prisons to psychiatric centers, from borders to conflict zones, gives him a unique vantage point from which to give attendees an inspirational and transformative musical pathway.
