Deer Creek Chorale presents To The Hands, November 24, 2024, featuring the premier of a new commissioned work Hands by award winning composer Z. Randall Stroope.
November 4, 2024 (Bel Air, MD) – Deer Creek Chorale—northern Baltimore and Harford Counties’
premier adult and youth choral organization—presents their fall concert “To The Hands” on November 24, 2024, 4pm at St. Joseph Parish, Cockeysville, MD.
A hallmark of Deer Creek Chorale is their desire to premier commissioned works in the MidAtlantic region. In 2024, DCC commissioned famed composer Z. Randall Stroope to create a brand new work Hands which will premiere at the November 24th concert. The concert centers around the theme of hands and the impact of touch on our world. Deer Creek Youth Choir will also be performing on the 24th, showcasing both of their choirs (Jubilate and Vivace) as well as joining with the chorale on stage for collaborative pieces. Tickets are $25 (adult), $20 (senior 62+), $10 (student/youth 6-21) and free for 5 years and younger and can be purchased at deercreekchorale.org. Tickets purchased at the door are an additional $5 each.
Deer Creek Chorale was founded in 2007 and is led by Artistic Director Marty Banghart, former choral director of North Harford High School. The DCC has performed in venues around the world, including Carnegie Hall and the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing, China. The chorale has founded additional choral ensembles, including Deer Creek Youth Choir, Deer Creek Chamber Choir, and Ebb and Flow ladies’ ensemble. DCC is the only choir in Maryland that boasts a dual mission of singing and service: each season, the chorale selects a charity to support. Members provide volunteer service for the selected charity. This year’s charitable partner is Project C.U.R.E., an organization that delivers life-saving medical equipment, supplies and services to meet the needs of people in poverty, disasters and violence.

About Deer Creek Chorale
Deer Creek Chorale is the premier choir in Maryland’s Harford and Baltimore Counties. The organization was founded in 2007 and boasts five ensembles: its flagship large, intergenerational adult choir of more than 90 singers, two youth choirs (Vivace and Jubilate), a chamber choir and women’s ensemble (Ebb and Flow). DCC is Maryland’s only choir with a dual mission: to sing and serve. Members volunteer their time to support the season’s selected charitable organization and choral programs are used as a vehicle to educate audiences about the charity’s mission. The organization’s artistic leaders include Artistic Director Marty Banghart, who is also the organization’s founder, Assistant Director Greg Arment, and Deer Creek Youth Choir Artistic Director Julie Culotta. For more information about the DCC and its programs, visit deercreekchorale.org. This performance is funded in part by the Maryland State Arts Council (msac.org), the Harford County Cultural Arts Board (with funds from MSAC) and the Citizens of Baltimore County.
